"He's The Fastest Thing Alive!"Welcome to Saturday Morning Sonic! SMS is an award-winning fan site and web community dedicated to the 1993-1995 ABC Saturday morning cartoon series, Sonic the Hedgehog, created by DiC Entertainment, newly released to DVD by Shout! Factory, and commonly referred to as “SatAM” by the Internet community.

The Complete Series DVDThe term “SatAM” (Saturday morning) was originally used to distinguish the show from its more 'zany' counterpart, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and has since become synonymous with the show. SatAM is known for its darker, developed storyline, impressive writing, and noteworthy cast. The show followed Sega's popular mascot and the rest of the Knothole Village Freedom Fighters as they fought to free their planet, Mobius, from the clutches of the evil Dr. Robotnik.

SatAM was part of a Saturday morning cartoon trend that reached its peak in the early to mid 1990s, a period often recognized for its The Freedom Fightersplethora of traditional American animation. Though there are hundreds of Saturday morning cartoons (even the recent anime Sonic adaption, Sonic X, aired on Saturday mornings), there is only one “SatAM.” SatAM is recognized by many as the greatest of the four Sonic cartoon series initiated by the video game powerhouse known as Sega, and, as such, is simply and appropriately titled, "Sonic the Hedgehog.”

"I hate that hedgehog!"The goal of Saturday Morning Sonic is twofold: to provide an informative resource on the show's past, present, and future that stands as a lasting tribute to the series and its story, and to create a welcoming community environment that unites fans of SatAM and breaks down barriers that often separate SatAM from the larger Sonic community. I encourage everyone to take a look around, refresh your memory, learn some little-known SatAM facts, enjoy some rare SatAM media, and spend some time chatting with other fans and catching up on the latest news and fan content in the forums.
